Another Exploration of Accumulated Objects

2018 |  Virginia Center for the Creative Arts

During a residency at VCCA, I scrapped my planned project and pinned a few objects found buried in a bag of supplies to the studio walls, something I did to acclimate to the space. In subsequent days, I added more objects until I started seeing visual/emotional relationships among these random things, which I either brought with me, made in the studio, or found on walks on the grounds. I documented the progress of the installation on a daily basis and posted updates on Instagram every few days. At the end of the residency, after I disassembled everything, strangely, I felt sad that these little pieces, evidence or artifacts of people I had known, were no longer physically connected on the studio walls, but were instead packed away in a box.
